AN ELDERLY man who went on hunger strike protest outside the Dail has suffered a suspected heart attack.
Eddie Hernon (68) was campaigning for a statutory inquiry into the activities of a doctor who handled cases of alleged child sexual abuse.
He said yesterday that he had been taken to St James's Hospital after suffering a fit outside the Dail on Monday.
"I had a quadruple bypass three years ago and I had been eight days without food and three days without my heart medication," he said.
Mr Hernon was one of the people who complained about Dr Moira Woods, the former head of the sexual assault treatment unit at the Rotunda Hospital.
The cases centred on claims that she had misdiagnosed child sexual abuse in children from a number of families.
